Privacy Policy — Workset

Last updated: 9 September 2026

The short version

Workset collects nothing. It has no account, no server, no analytics, and makes no network requests of any kind. Everything you save stays in your own browser, on your own machine.

What Workset stores, and where

Workset saves the projects, links, documents, notes, tags and tasks you create into your browser's local storage (IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local) on the device you are using. That data never leaves the device. It is not uploaded, synced, backed up to us, or shared with anyone, because there is nowhere for it to go — Workset has no backend.

Uninstalling the extension removes that data along with it, so export a backup first if you want to keep it.

What Workset does not do

Permissions, and why each one exists

PermissionWhy
storage, unlimitedStorageTo save your projects and notes locally. Unlimited because note text and a large bookmark import can exceed the default 5 MB.
tabsTo read the URL and title of a tab you are saving. This is the capture feature itself.
bookmarksRead-only, for the optional import wizard.
sidePanelThe capture surface is a side panel, so it can stay open beside what you are reading.
contextMenusTo offer "Save to Workset" on the page and link right-click menus.
scriptingInjected only at the moment you capture a selection, to read the text you highlighted. No content script runs on any page by default.
faviconTo show a site's icon next to a saved page, resolved from the browser's own cache with no network request.

Workset requests no host permissions, which means it has no standing access to the content of any website you visit.

Your data is yours

Settings → Backup exports your entire vault as a plain JSON file you control, and restores from one. The file is deliberately unencrypted: an encrypted export needs a key you have to keep, and a key people lose is a backup nobody can open. Keep the file somewhere private.

Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete on your behalf — deleting your data is entirely within your control, by removing items in the app or uninstalling the extension.

Children

Workset is a productivity tool for general audiences and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If Workset ever changes what it stores or starts making network requests, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the extension's release notes. The date at the top reflects the current version.
